Yorkshire Choice Awards

Friday the 13th is meant to be unlucky for some but we were feeling hopeful as Friday 13th April 2018 played host to the Yorkshire Choice Awards. Held at Elland Road in Leeds this glamorous awards evening was attended by over 500 hopefuls from all different walks of life, from new businesses, to young achievers.

CWC were listed as nominees in two categories, Best Independent Business and Clive was personally up for Business Man of the Year. There were over 470,000 votes cast and the categories were large, no less than 73 nominees in the Best Independent Business category!

The evening was in support of St Gemma's Hospice, Yorkshire's largest hospice based in Leeds. A most worthwhile cause.

The evening began with a fizz reception and a chance to have your photo taken with the professional photographers, there was also a fun photo booth which provided a great source of entertainment!

We shared a table with 2 ladies from Full Circle Funerals. A wonderful company, just in its infancy yet with incredible first year results.

The awards began around 9.30pm Christa Ackroyd read out the top four finalists in each category and a small piece about each of the people or companies.

We were absolutely thrilled that Clive was a finalist in Business Man of the Year, not an easy feat as there was some tough competition on the list! However it was clinched by the director of Huddersfield Town. Our table was a most lucky table, the ladies from Full Circle Funerals were also placed as a finalist in Best Independent Business and our son was placed as a top four finalist in Young Achiever of the Year (only getting beaten by an actor from Emmerdale!)

So we didn't come home with a shiny trophy but we did come home with certificates to say we were so close to winning it was just a hares breath away and next year I think we will have those trophies!

Thank you so much to everyone who voted we appreciate your support.
